Today's Linford can trace its history back to the founding of the first Linford family building business in 1877.
Since that date, the business has enjoyed a consistent record of success and steady expansion.
The 'modern' Linford came into being in 1925 with the formation of F&EV Linford, a name which remained the main trading vehicle for the business until the late '60s. In 1968 the company acquired the restoration specialists R Bridgeman and Sons, and Linford Bridgeman was born.
In 1970 the company recognised the expanded nature of the new operation with the formation of Linford Group.
Linford Group rapidly grew its reputation as a progressive new-build contractor based on a reputation for quality that had been earned through more than a century of restoration work on some of Britain's most famous heritage buildings.
In 2001 the company built on its long-time links to the North West with the opening of a permanent regional office in Runcorn. In 2002, similar links with the North Wales region were cemented with a launch of Faenol Linford. In 2007, Linford Group acquired architectural metalwork specialist Dorothea Restorations Ltd, and then in 2008 added the specialist traditional plastering business Trumpers.
A philosophy of controlled expansion, based on the successful delivery of high-quality building, restoration and renewal services, remains at the heart of Linford Group as we continue to build for the future.
