Linford has completed three separate stages of a £6.9 million development project for the university.
The first phase (£1.6m) saw Linford Group build a new campus building which incorporated computer study areas, classrooms, and canteen facilities. The second phase (£2.2m) saw Linford build new art facility studios, photographic and video studios and general classrooms for Tamworth and Lichfield College and Staffordshire University. The third and latest stage is the £3.1 million construction of a new building for Tamworth and Lichfield College's School of Art. This building has a steel frame construction with various elevation treatments including facing bricks, render, and curtain walling. Linford has also installed full mechanical and electrical services, including an environmentally friendly comfort cooling ventilation system. The contract was initially won through competitive tender in two phases, and then value engineered to meet the client's budget - achieving 30% savings on cost without affecting the area of function of the building. Subsequent work has been carried out of a Design and Build basis, achieving completions that have been both within budget and ahead of schedule.
